Foldlings

Spun from the last thread on a bookbinder’s spool.

Their job

Foldlings turn your finished draft into a real book. They fold the pages, stitch the spine, and make it look the way a book should. Then they help you get it ready to send out: the letter to an agent, the short summary, the few lines about you. When it's ready, a Foldling carries it to the window.

What they love

• The last page of a draft
• A spine that opens flat
• Wrapping things up with a bow
• Watching a book leave the window

What they can't stand

A finished story that never leaves the drawer.

A secret

A Foldling keeps one silver thread from every book it has ever bound. That's why the spool around its neck never runs out.
